Cautions
In some animals, artichoke can cause some side effects such as intestinal gas and allergic reactions, although gastrointestinal disturbances generally are related to administering high dosages. Animals at the greatest risk of allergic reactions are those who are allergic to plants such as marigolds, daisies, and other similar herbs. Artichoke may cause an allergic reaction in dog/cats that are sensitive to the Asteraceae or Compositae family. Members of this family include ragweed, chrysanthemums, marigolds, daisies, and many others. If your dog/cat has allergies, be sure to check with your Vet prior to using artichoke.
Diabetics and animals with hypoglycemia should use this product with caution and monitor blood sugar levels closely in anticipation of possible effects. Animals with gall bladder disease should use artichoke only under medical supervision. Possibly cautioned for use during pregnancy and lactation. There is concern that artichoke may increase bile duct obstruction by increasing bile flow. Bile flow may potentiate gallstone issues. Consult your vet.
