Our company story began with rescue kittens and the Amazon, but we'll get to the Amazon part later.......

The company president and founder, Heidi, rescued five Bengal kittens who had been abandoned at a grooming shop. At two weeks old and without food for several days, her vet predicted the kittens wouldn't live through the night. Heidi took them home, began hourly feedings of goat's milk and slept next to the tiny kittens. Impressed with their ferocity to live despite a number of health problems, she fell in love with her charges. Two kittens moved in permanently and their three siblings met their forever pet parents. One of the rescues and company mascot, Genevieve, is pictured below.

Heidi had lived in South America for years where she studied herbalism under a traditional, medical system. In traditional medicine, herbs and marine plants are used to support health as a lifestyle, in humans and in animals, as well as to help address specific conditions as they arise. Heidi used South American plants and marine products from the Amazon and Andes as part of her personal wellness lifestyle, and on accident, she spilled herbs on the floor and the kittens pounced.

Strict quality control processes are used throughout the cultivation, harvesting, processing, and manufacturing process, including:

• Selection of the material and pharmaceutical form.
• Patient’s acceptability.

• Correct packing.

Our laboratory works with registered, ethical growers and suppliers to guarantee that all raw materials are of the highest quality, purity and potency; have not been mislabeled or adulterated; have been grown sustainably; have been properly harvested; and the environment has not been harmed from soil to bottle.

Strict quality control procedures are used throughout cultivation, harvesting, processing, and manufacturing and each product is processed with state-of-the-art instrumentation to meet our exacting standards.

These tests are performed on each plant batch that is processed:

Physical organoleptic analysis, which encompasses macroscopic and stereoscopic analysis; particle size; larva and insect contamination; color; smell; taste characteristics; drying; and storage conditions. If there is any doubt about the identity of an ingredient, we perform a micro-graphic test. The percentage of moisture is analyzed by gravimetric methods. The ash determination is measured.

International pharmacopoeia methods are used, including a microbiological and sanitary analysis is performed to determine the most probably number of microorganisms (NMP/g). Mold and yeast recount is performed. The finished product undergoes a second plaque and microbial aerobe recount and analysis.

Composition analysis is performed via the TLC method. Chromatography of thin layer method.

The final active principle assessment is made via HPLC. High performance liquid chromatography.
