Contraindications
Do not take if your pet is pregnant, nursing or will be bred. May be contraindicated for pets receiving hormone treatment, insulin or vaccines. Consult with your Vet prior to use if your pet is scheduled for surgery (has a mild blood thinning effect and is recommended to discontinue use 2 weeks prior to surgery), is using blood thinners or has an autoimmune disease. Cat's Claw has been clinically documented with immunostimulant effects and is contraindicated before or following any organ or bone marrow transplant or skin graft.
Drug Interactions
Cat's Claw may potentiate Coumadin and blood-thinning drugs and medications changed by the liver (Cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) substrates and may decrease how quickly the liver breaks down some medications, including those changed by the liver such as lovastatin (Mevacor), ketoconazole (Nizoral), itraconazole (Sporanox), fexofenadine (Allegra), triazolam (Halcion), and others. Taking Cat’s claw along with medication for the liver can increase the effects and side effects. May interact with medications for high blood pressure (antihypertensive drugs) as may decrease blood pressure and/or cause blood pressure to go too low. May interact with medications that decrease the immune system (Immunosuppressants) as Cat's claw may stimulate the immune system. Cat’s claw is considered generally safe but please talk to your vet before giving cat's claw to your dog/cat.
Cautions
Rarely but occasionally may cause dizziness and vomiting. Cat's Claw may reduce platelet aggregation and thin the blood. May lower blood pressure. Use caution if your pet has low blood pressure. Cat’s claw might cause the immune system to become more active, and this could increase the symptoms of auto-immune diseases. If your cat/dog has one of these conditions, consult with your Vet provider prior to use.
Dosage
