Recommened Use

ALS, Adult, Senior, Puppy, Kitten: for disease prevention; for topical cuts, burns, wounds, topical allergic reactions, bites, scratches and abrasions; for rehabilitative periods; for senior, geriatric, convalescing, stressed or compromised pets; when a nutritional edge is required. For all life stages, do not exceed recommended dosages, but particularly important in cases of developing puppies and kittens. 

Ingredients*

Medicago sativa L. (Alfalfa); Aloe barbadensis (Aloe Vera leaf)

Contraindications Alfalfa

Do not use if your pet is pregnant or breast feeding. Do not use if your pet suffers from hormone sensitive cancer or latent systemic lupus erythematosus.

Alfalfa might reduce blood sugar levels and may increase the effectiveness of medicines used to treat diabetes. Alfalfa might potentiate diuretic and anticoagulant medication, including aspirin, or any drug that prevents blood platelet aggregation. Alfalfa might potentiate the functions of the immune system and may interfere with drugs used to suppress this system. Do not use if your pet is taking immune system suppressors.

Contraindications Aloe Vera

Do not use if your pet has kidney failure or hemorrhoids; discontinue use 2 weeks prior to scheduled surgery for your dog or cat. Aloe Vera may affect blood sugar levels and is cautioned for diabetic animals. Cautioned for intestinal conditions such as Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, or obstruction as use may stimulate the bowels, causing diarrhea. Please monitor your pet and consult your holistic vet prior to use.  

Alfalfa Drug Interactions

Alfalfa might reduce blood sugar levels and may potentiate diabetic medications. Alfalfa might potentiate diuretic medication. Alfalfa might potentiate anti-coagulant medication, including aspirin, or any drug that prevents blood platelet agglutination. Alfalfa may interfere with hormone replacement therapy drugs or contraceptives. Alfalfa might potentiate the functions of the immune system and may interfere with drugs used to suppress this system. Do not use if you have received a transplanted organ or if you are taking immune system suppressors.

Aloe Vera Drug Interactions

Aloe Vera interacts with digoxin (Lanoxin), which can decrease potassium levels in the body and increase the related side effects. Aloe Vera interacts with sevoflurane (Ultane) and might decrease clotting of the blood. Aloe Vera interacts with stimulant laxatives and water pills, including bisacodyl (Correctol, Dulcolax), cascara, castor oil (Purge), Senna (Shake Ur Groove Thing!), (Senokot), and others. Aloe Vera interacts with Warfarin (Coumadin). Cautioned for interaction and use with antidiabetic drugs; possibly related to glimepiride (Amaryl), glyburide (DiaBeta, Glynase PresTab, Micronase), insulin, pioglitazone (Actos), rosiglitazone (Avandia), chlorpropamide (Diabinese), glipizide (Glucotrol), tolbutamide (Orinase), and others. Monitor your pet’s blood sugar closely as the dosage might need to be changed.

Alfalfa Cautions

Avoid use if your pet is pregnant or nursing. Use caution if your pet has gout. Animals with latent systemic lupus erythematosus have had relapse after using Alfalfa. Alfalfa may increase the rate of metabolism of xenobiotics in the liver. Alfalfa may reduce the effect of warfarin. May interfere with hypoglycemic and diuretic medication. Alfalfa may increase the effects of diuretic medication. Due to Alfalfa’s high potassium content, pets with chronic kidney insufficiency, hypoaldosteronism, or who are using potassium-altering medications should use caution when using Alfalfa due to the risk of hyperkalemia. Animals sensitive to pollen may be sensitive to fresh Alfalfa. Alfalfa should not be used in pets that have an autoimmune disorder as the immune-stimulating effects of Alfalfa can be harmful. It should not be given to pregnant or lactating animals unless otherwise instructed by a veterinarian. As with any supplement or herb, always consult with your holistic veterinarian before giving it to your pet.

Aloe Vera Cautions

Cautioned for interaction and use with antidiabetic drugs; possibly related to glimepiride (Amaryl), glyburide (DiaBeta, Glynase PresTab, Micronase), insulin, pioglitazone (Actos), rosiglitazone (Avandia), chlorpropamide (Diabinese), glipizide (Glucotrol), tolbutamide (Orinase), and others. Monitor your pet’s blood sugar closely as the dosage might need to be changed. DO NOT EXCEED RECOMMENDED DOSAGES. Other clinical signs seen with aloe vera ingestion include depression, anorexia, changes in urine color, and rarely, tremors.

Dosage

Suggested Dosage: (measuring cup attached) Dogs & cats up to 12 pounds: 2.5 ml, one time daily. Dogs & cats 13+ pounds: 2.5 ml, two times daily. Do not exceed recommended dosage. Can be used topically to soothe skin irritations.
